Rodrigo Lopez of Travelian Eco-tours and I have created an exciting birding tour for the Mexican state of Oaxaca. This tour will run from March 4 – 16, 2024.
Rodrigo is an experienced guide and leader. He employs sustainable birding practices and every dollar spent stays in Mexico. He is a board member of ROACOMX, a sustainable birding organization and represents Mexico with the Graeme Gibson Prismaticos Project, which provides donated binoculars to deserving Mexican recipients.
I’ve been on two trips with Rodrigo. The first was in the state of Guanajuato (view it here) and the second was in the Sierra Gorda Biosphere (view it here). Both were very well-organized and successful in terms of birding and the enjoyable exposure to local culture.
Oaxaca is a birding paradise and our group will visit the interior, mountains and Pacific coast. We’ll even take a side trip to the Isthmus in search of some very special birds. Our itinerary gives us an excellent chance at seeing all of the endemics in the region. The tour will be limited to ten participants. Rodrigo will always be assisted by a local guide. Enrollment is off to a good start.
